The University of California, Irvine's overall acceptance rate has shown a downward trend over the past few years. In the application year 2022, the acceptance rate was 28.9% with 107,952 applicants and 31,239 accepted students, while in 2021, it was slightly higher at 29.9%, accepting 29,301 out of 97,942 applicants. The acceptance rate for the application year 2020 dropped to 26.5% with 25,361 admitted from 95,568 applicants. Notably, in 2017, the acceptance rate was significantly higher at 36.5%, indicating increased competition in more recent cycles.
